Hampshire College will present a screening of the documentary To Be Heard on Thursday, March 8, at 8 p.m. in Franklin Patterson Hall’s Main Lecture Hall.
Cast members will introduce the film and engage the audience in a Q and A following the screening. This event is free and open to the public. Produced and directed by Hampshire College alumnus Roland Legiardi-Laura 70F, To Be Heard is the story of three teens from the South Bronx whose struggle to change their lives begins when they start to write poetry. As writing and reciting become vehicles for their expressions of love, friendship, frustration, and hope, the three youngsters emerge as accomplished, self-aware artists, who use their creativity to alter their circumstances.
