Kevin Boyle, Professor of History at the Ohio State University, will lecture on the subject of his forthcoming book The Splendid Dead: An American Ordeal. Boyle's account of the trial and execution of Ferdinando Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti weaves together political extremism, terrorism, and government repression. Boyle, who taught at UMass Amherst for several years, won the 2004 National Book Award for nonfiction for his previous book, Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights, and Murder in the Jazz Age.
