Ania Filochowska and Piotr Filochowski, Poland’s award-winning sibling violinists were accepted at The Juilliard School on full scholarships in 2005. Prior to coming to New York, they were already winners of numerous prestigious children's international violin competitions in Europe. Having performed at major concert halls in Poland, the duo toured Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, and Canada. In the United States, they have played at such concert venues as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Princeton University's Richardson Auditorium, Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory in Boston, to name just a few. In 2006 and 2007, the Filochowskis appeared on NPR’s “From the Top.”
Their music educators include such world-renowned violinists as Ida Haendel, Midori, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Igor Oistrakh, Itzhak Perlman, Ruggiero Ricci, and Aaron Rosand. In the past few summers, Ania and Piotr participated in “The Perlman Music Program,” Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland, and Mozarteum University’s International Summer Academy in Salzburg, Austria. They have been proud recipients of several awards and scholarships supporting their talent and education, including the assistance from the President and First Lady of Poland, Barbara Piasecka Johnson Foundation, Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, Rachel Elizabeth Barton Foundation, as well as the “Crescendum Est – Polonia” scholarship from the Polish Minister of Culture.
Ania has been described by Itzhak Perlman as “extremely gifted, a natural violinist, who is not afraid to take musical risks.” Since 2009, Piotr has been a student at the Yale School of Music in the “Certificate in Performance” Program for exceptionally gifted musicians. Ania and Piotr play the modern Polish violins made by celebrated luthier Wojciech Topa in Zakopane, Poland.
